Historic Zingst

Dear Friends
One of the most moving moments was to visit the church where Dietrich von Bonhoeffer preached when he started a seminar here in Zingst. I could envision how he stood in the pulpit and encouraged the church to stand firm in their faith in light of the Nazi regime. Later, shortly before the war ended he was executed after years in prison. This man was one of the greatest man in the last century. What a privilege to walk for a moment where he ministered and influenced German history.

The area is also particular known for its architecture of roofs. The houses are fantastic and fit perfectly into the charming but rough windy ocean weather.

Wedding

The wedding was fantastic. The bride looked beautiful and the celebration was filled with joy and fun! The Germans know how to throw a wedding party. Singing, dancing, videos, and games entertained the guests into the morning hours. It was so much fun being with my family and getting to know the "new" extended family of the bride.

The weather couldn't be better here in the most southern corner of Germany. I met the newest family member and enjoy being with her for a couple of days. She is a really cute!

Jagsthausen Summer Festival

One of the most famous summer play festivals are hold in a very small towns where one of my nephews lives. Lukas his son was part of the play and I could watch him on Sunday. It took place in an old castle. History is everywhere here in Germany.

Hike in Felsengarten

Germany is a beautiful country. On Saturday we hiked in the famous "Felsengarten" along the river Neckar! The weather was perfect, walking along the vineyards is relaxing!

Wild Paradise

Dear Friends
Very near my home town are two major attraction for tourists. One is "Tripsdrill" and the other is "Wildparadise". Yesterday, my sister,  two of her grand children and I spend a day there. We had a great time watching the feeding frenzy of the bobcats, bears and wolves. The aerial show of the birds of prey was impressive. The numerous variety of deer entertained us for hours. Here is a glimpse into the wild paradise of nature!Can you tell that I have a good time with my family?

Chicago my type of town

Chicago surprised us, what a beautiful and vibrant city! Ben and I explored it this weekend. We both were astonished how beautiful and vibrant Chicago presents itself. The boat ride through the city gave us a good impression of the different architecture phases. From  Lake Michigan the skyline is impressive, passing by the first Ferris Wheel oft the world. We stolled down "The Magnificent Mile". Parks, art fest, the bean, fountain, flowers and many activity the city offers, kept our attention throughout the day. Of course you can't visit Chicago without going up the 103 floors of the Willis tower (former Sears tower). The views are spectacular and stepping out into the glass box was a tomy tickling experience. The day ended at one of the famous pizza places where we digged into the deep dish specialty. A big city with its own flavor. Its worthwhile to spend some time in this type of town.
